The Wine Society is Australia's oldest independent wine club. In 1946, our founder Dr Gilbert Phillips decided it would be a good idea to grab his friends and pool their funds to obtain better pricing - and the Wine Society was born.

The Society's philosophy hasn't changed - we are just one big group of friends (all 58,000 of us).

BECOMING A WINE SOCIETY MEMBER and WHAT YOU GET:

Cost is A$50 one-off joining fee, refundable if you ever leave.

Wines are offered at special prices, and you are NOT sent any wines that you do not order - no unwanted 'quarterly dozens' turning up at your door.

Wine freight is subsidised - max A$7 per case (normal postage can be A$17-20).

Each month there is a welcome gift - usually worth far more than the joining fee.

Your only obligation is to buy a minimum of A$250 wine per year.


The Wine Society also holds regular events and classes. The mission of The Wine Society's Education Program is to provide the answers to all the questions about wine worth asking.

Accessible to the layperson and valuable to the connoisseur; our courses are designed to satisfy the curiosity of the most critical thinkers and leave even the most mildly interested positively enthused. From introductory to varietal masterclasses.

The Wine Society also sells wines online and in five stores around Sydney.
