Ever wanted to try your hand at winemaking but don't know how to begin? Frankston Amateur Winemaking Guild is a not-for-profit organisation encouraging non-professionals to discover the joys of creating and blending your own wines - whether they be made of grape, apples, stonefruits, citrus or berries.
Each February, the FAWG runs basic winemaking classes in the Mornington area. Classes are run over four weeks, with a three hour class each week and the cost includes basic winemaking equipment, ingredients for your first fruit wine, a winemaking book, three months membership to the Guild, wine tasting and appreciation lessons.
Extremely reasonably priced already, this course is also specially discounted for VisitVineyards.com Members. See associated Member Offer.
Each August/September, the Guild also runs the Frankston and South Eastern Wine Show and Amateur Winemaking Competition in the Mornington Peninsula area giving amateurs the opportunity to showcase their skills and the public, the opportunity to expand their tastebuds.
Sample wines made from citrus fruits, stone fruits, berries, guavas, carrots, parsnips, herbs and many other exotic ingredients. Red and white wines such as shiraz, cabernet, merlot, pinot noir, riesling, chardonnay, muscat are usually well represented.Great fun is had by all!
