Victorian Bushfire Appeal wine raffle - a lucky Friday 13th!
A new VisitVineyards.com Member has won first prize in this national raffle, winning wine worth A$25,000! There are 33 prizes, total prize pool nearly A$100,000
The Yarra Valley, Victoria
A VisitVineyards.com subscriber and his wife who purchased 10 tickets to become Members of VisitVineyards.com snared the winning ticket in this massively generous wine industry Red Cross Bushfire Relief Appeal raffle, set up to help all bushfire victims rebuild their lives after the horrific February bushfires in Victoria.
First prize was valued at approximately A$25,000 and the other 32 great prizes brought the total prize pool to nearly A$100,000.
The winning ticket was drawn by Steve Webber, current Royal Melbourne Wine Show Chair, and Chief Winemaker at De Bortoli at midday on 13th March. The draw was overseen by wine writer Max Allen and Bert Werden of Wine Star.
The very happy winner is Mr John Symons, of Melbourne.
A VisitVineyards.com subscriber also won 11th prize, congratulations to Mr Ian Picken also of Melbourne.

The horrific bushfires in Victoria on February 7th have touched all Australians and hit home hard for the wine industry, with the tragic death of Rob Davey (of Rob Davey Wine Merchants) his wife and two young daughters. Wine business proprietor Greg Leonard and his wife Gail died in the Steels Creek area, along with over 200 others in the worst disaster to hit peacetime Australia.
A number of wineries, vineyards, olive groves, orchards and of course farms, restarrants, accommdations and many others in Victoria have suffered significant property and stock losses. The Australian Wine Trade responded quickly with generous donations from wineries big and small - including many affected - as well as a number of key online retailers that have supported the cause, to help ALL those whose lives have been shattered.
A huge thank you also to Bert Werden of Wine Star for establishing this raffle, and to all other ticket sellers - together we raised nearly A$250,000.
