Chateau d'Yquem dominates not only the local landscape but especially in the Sauternes [©Image supplied by Isle of Wine]
Singled out as a Premier Cru Superieur in the 1855 classification, Yquem owes its celebrated status to the continuity provided by the Lur-Saluces family (owners since 1785), the precision with which the domaine is run, and its geographical situation.
The wines are a blend of semillon with a little sauvignon blanc, and occasionally muscadelle, depending on climatic conditions.
