At Moorooduc Estate on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, the land was found and purchased in 1982 after an extensive search for a promising vineyard site.
Five acres (2 ha) were planted in 1983 and the first wines were made in 1986. Since then, a further 7 Acres (3 ha) have been planted in 1987 and 1994.
The original small rammed earth winery has been upgraded but wine making continues in a small scale, hands on, labour intensive manner.
Mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at three levels in a hierarchy of regional, subregional and individual vineyard wines - Devil Bend, Mooorooduc Estate and The Moorooduc,
The cellar door is open for tastings and wine sales Thursday to Monday, 11am to 4pm. Stock up on wine and produce including Richard's sour dough bread at weekends and Jill's produce, verjus and vinegars, local olive oil and craftwork.
