Heathcote Estate vineyard and winery is located at Heathcote, in the Goldfields tourist region, north west of Melbourne, in Victoria.
Heathcote Estate's rich red Cambrian soil and dry mild climate provide the idyllic foundation for producing world class Shiraz. It is for these two reasons that the Heathcote wine district is considered one of Australia's pre-eminent regions for Shiraz
Heathcote Estate has received numerous accolades and rave reviews from Australian and international wine critics and publications.
Heathcote Estate was established in 1999 as an ultra premium producer solely focused on the production of one wine – a single vineyard Shiraz. The Bialkower and Kirby families shared vision of excellence is reflected in their single-minded focus on quality across the entire winemaking process.
The Heathcote Estate Shiraz 2005 exhibits a dark dense red color, a ripe powerful nose of blackberry and raspberry with nuances of cedar, chocolate and spice. Flavours are a subtle combination of dark berry fruits integrated with complex oak and mixed spices.
Heathcote has more recently launched their Grenache Noir. After harvesting the grenache noir grapes for four years, and the quality was so impressive they decided in 2005 to launch this medium bodied Grenache Noir.
The Grenache Noir 2005 has aromas of raspberry, blackberry and cherries with hints of earthiness. The flavours reflect the aromas and the palate structure is medium bodied and rich with fine tannins and a lingering finish. This unique Heathcote Grenache Noir should ages well for up to 5 years under ideal storage conditions
