The Stavropoulos family established Dromana Valley Wines in 1974 with the planting of a small block of shiraz. When the Hickinbotham family purchased the property across the road in 1988 it led to the first Dromana Valley wines being made by Andrew Hickinbotham, and to the extension of the vineyard in 1989, with further plantings in 1997. There is now a little under two hectares of chardonnay, over one hectare of pinot noir, the remaining two hectares divided between shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. In 1997 a new winery was built, and in Easter 1998 the cellar door was opened and wine sales commenced, with a number of vintages on offer. Since 1999 winemaking has been carried out by Greg Ray at the on-site winery.
