The kids wanted to surf, and Brian Stonier wanted to farm cattle. The compromise was a 100 acre block near Point Leo on the Mornington Peninsula with an acre of chardonnay vines behind the house. Stonier Wines now boasts some of the regions oldest vines.
Moving to Melbourne from India in the early 1980s, Paramdeep and Nirmal Ghumman, had no particular interest in wine and certainly no plans to start their own winery. Now they are winning wine awards, sharing their table with guests and planning culinary tours to India.
