Once upon a time, Ted Ori ran a popular carvery in Toorak and dreamt of a life like his brother's back in the Tuscan town of Lucca, making his own wine and olive oil. Oh, and he'd like an orange 1975 Ducatti, too please. Now all this is his reality. This tiny little osteria is the Peninsula's best hidden gem - and not just because getting here means a hairy drive dodging kangaroos along a sandy track through the trees of the National Park! It's so private you won't find it the White Pages, let alone a guide book! Yet even without any contact details, La Campagna manages to be booked out a month in advance. (And now we've published his number, Ted'll probably change it!) Much of the homestyle Italian food comes from Ted's woodfired oven. Think Tuscan-style pizzas or roast lamb.
