WINE FOOD RESTAURANT (BELOW) NO LONGER OPERATES AT BARAK ESTATE.
The Long Slow Lunch is a decadent experience oozing warmth & hospitality. Barak Estate is nestled in Moorooduc, Victoria, the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula.
The Plentiful Banquet is abundant with local & homegrown produce. The aromas from the kitchen of breads baking (and other goodies) will alert a sudden hunger. The menu is ever changing according what's going on in the garden & who was charmed at the local market and is filled with scrumptious culinary surprises. The concept here, the long slow lunch, isn't so original. How ever this home of ambrosial fare and nectarous vino, and its delivery is a truly wonderful and unique experience.
The building is a work of art, both created & built by Jim, wine maker & property owner. The ingenuity of incorporating old telegraph poles, railway sleepers, shingled timbers & materials collected from demolition sites complete the artistic and rustic appeal.
Behind enormous double barn doors, this barn turned palace rings with nostalgia. Not a commercial label or big name to be seen. The décor is eclectic original & welcoming. Worldly fabrics set the tables - not at all akin with your traditional restaurant styles of today. A toasty fire & flickering candles give a warm ambience perfect for a winters afternoon to wine & dine. In summer it's open the barn doors and let the sea breeze flow through.
Play Bocce, Croquet or Backyard Cricket between courses. Perhaps a stroll through the vines and charming rustic gardens is more your pace.
The Gourmet Gumboot Walkabout is a walking tour through the Moorooduc countryside, sampling much if the local food and wine along the way.
