The Diggers Seeds Garden Club was established in the 1980s by Clive and Penny Blazey at their magnificent property Heronswood, just out of Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula. There is also a garden at St Erth, just out of Blackwood between Macedon and Ballarat, Victoria.
Diggers have Australia's largest range of heirloom vegetables, cottage flowers and fruit plants, which are available Australia-wide (and also overseas, local regulations permitting) by mail order. They send out six catalogues annually.
They have specialised in growing hard to find, non-mainstream seeds and plants for mail order customers, who are passionate gardeners. Plants are trialled for hardiness and drought tolerance under the hot Australian sun. They're also displayed in our gardens, taste-tested in our cafes and propagated in our nurseries.
One speciality is their ten colour heirloom tomatoes. If you are tired of tomatoes that bounce, potted colour that's only ankle-high, and tasteless, supermarket fruits of deception, then you are our sort of gardener.
