Joanne Woodhouse, Owner/Director of "The Curly Vine" soaps and oils producer, has been involved in the wine industry since 1997, when her parents (John & Sandra Woodhouse) planted a small boutique vineyard, Wirruna Estate on Lake Hume, North East Victoria.
Over the years, Joanne and John have perfected the art of soap making produced from the wine making process. Joanne, having and artistic background and John's background as an industrial chemist and wine maker, gave them the opportunity to produce a natural product from the by-product of wine.
The waste from producing wine is recycled and has been proven to contain a vast amount of anti-oxidants. This waste is called “wine lees” which not only contains anti-oxidants to moisturise and soothe the skin, but grape seeds to exfoliate, yeast – which is high in Vitamin B to help slow down the ageing process – plus wine lees is also a fantastic natural colour source.
The wine lees and grape skins are collected from Wirruna once a year during the grape picking season. Once the grapes have been crushed and the juice is settled, the wine lees is collected from the stai wine tanks and barrels. This is then stored at correct temperature for a period of time to enable the antioxidants to breathe and develop into their natural form. Some of the wine lees are crushed and dried, to be placed into the products, whilst the rest is kept in its liquid form.
The Curly Vine Wine bodycare products are available in three varieties of wine:
Shiraz: Relaxing Vanilla aroma
Chardonnay: Rejuvenating Lime aroma
Cabernet Sauvignon: Refreshing Eucalyptus aroma
Their unique range of body care products are formulated using selected oils, essential oils and fragrances and are sulphate free.
