“Bateman is part of Australian landscape painting, seeking not only to paint its beauty but to find its spirit" - Wendy Donald, Art Historian.
Stones of the Yarra Valley is delighted to present an afternoon celebrating the work of landscape artist Piers Bateman on Sunday, November 9.
Considered one of Australia's leading landscape painters, Piers Bateman grew up in Eltham before moving to London to study with Arthur Boyd. After travelling and painting in Cape York, Spain, Eritrea and Central Australia, Bateman's work is exhibited everywhere from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow to the Sydney Stock Exchange.
Over the course of a lazy Sunday afternoon Piers will display works spanning his remarkable career in the Stones barn and dairy. All paintings will be available for purchase, and Piers will be on hand to discuss the works in an informal setting.
Stone of the Yarra's fabulous a la carte menu will be available on the day, so if you are a lover of great Australian art make a booking for lunch and immerse yourself in the world of Piers Bateman.
