Agricultural Shows are the most popular form of family entertainment in Australia today and here on the Mornington Peninsula we have one of the best. Each year thousands of people come to the Red Hill Show to enjoy a great family day celebrating the productivity and creativity of our wonderful community.
The 81st annual Red Hill Show (the only event of its kind on the Peninsula, and awarded the 2004 Community Event of the Year by the Mornington Peninsula Shire) will be celebrated on Saturday, March 28th 2009 and, as always the entertainment, exhibitions, demonstrations and animals will be amazing.
There will be horses of all sizes, colours and breeds, beef cattle, stud and black and coloured sheep, aristocratic alpacas, and much, much smaller in size but every bit as competitive will be the rats and mice. There will be poultry, goats, pigs and petting paddocks full of animals for young people to get to know.
The Woodchop Events at Red Hill are legendary as is the amazing Dog High Scramble. There are clowns, stilt walkers, grape stomping, quality fairground rides, reptile demonstrations, entertainers, bands, commercial stalls and food and wine.
Show Day demonstrations will include shearing, spinning, working dogs, woodwork, heritage machinery, craft and cake decorating.
The Red Hill Open Horse Show will be held on Sunday, March 8th at Bittern and the Red Hill Showjumping will be held on Saturday April 4th and Sunday April 5th.
The Red Hill Show International Cool Climate Wine Show Public Tasting will be held at the Showgrounds on Wednesday, March 4th with the Awards Presentation Dinner on Friday, March 6th. The Winegrowers Symposium is planned for May 1st . NB - all dates to be confirmed.
