'At the beginning of the Strathbogie Ranges, the mature Plunkett Fowles vineyard produces some of the region's best wines. The winery complex is a high point too, with a smart restaurant and cellar door overlooking the vineyard and the rocky slopes of Mount Bernard. The Plunkett and Fowles families have a deep appreciation for the granite-rich Strathbogie Ranges. For decades they have worked hard developing extensive local knowledge: from pioneering fruit growing to understanding the personality of individual vineyard blocks and by experimenting with creative winemaking. Their vineyards grow a full array of the finest French varietals, while an innovative small-planting program extends their range into exotic grapevines from Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal and parts of Europe.
The Plunkett Fowles cellar door is home to their fine wine and fresh produce.
In addition to what they grow in their organic vegie patch, and the bread and other goodies they bake themselves, they source the best local produce to create appetizing antipasti, charcuterie and main plates. Their Mediterranean courtyard offers secluded alfresco dining and a safe children's playground and is the perfect place for long lazy afternoons.
